Step-by-step instructions
- Draw a simple pair of footprints about 6–8 cm long on card, leaving a wide border around each shape.
- Ask an adult to cut the shapes carefully. Keep the toe openings large enough to apply colour without tearing the card.
- Place the stencil on scrap paper and test the print. Smooth any rough edge before using it on your final surface.
- Choose the placement with your family. Test colour and tape in a hidden spot, or work on a separate board if the floor finish is sensitive.
- Hold the stencil flat and apply a light, even layer of colour. Lift it straight up; let the first print settle before making the next.
- Keep the motif beside the walking route. Clean the stencil, label it and store it flat for reuse; remove floor marks using a method suitable for the finish.

- Do not use permanent paint or adhesive on a rented or polished floor.
- Adults handle cutting; children can trace or colour the paper test.
