Materials & tools
- 2–3 candles with compatible stable holders, or battery candles
- A stable non-flammable tray if required by the holders
- A clear level surface outside the dining reach area

Step-by-step instructions
- Read the instructions and inspect holders for damage. Choose a level location away from draughts, curtains, serving dishes and the table edge.
- Set each candle in its own holder. Leave clear space between holders and surrounding objects according to their instructions.
- Keep dried flowers, leaves, paper confetti and loose fabric outside the flame and heat area. Use an uncluttered tray rather than filling it with flammable accents.
- Test the arrangement unlit by checking stability and the route people use around the table. Move it if guests need to lean over it.
- An adult lights the candles only when someone can supervise continuously. Use battery candles if the arrangement cannot be watched.
- Extinguish before leaving the room, moving holders or clearing the table. Let everything cool before storing or changing candles.

- Do not carry a lit candle tray through a gathering.
- Battery candles can give a similar grouping effect where real flames are unsuitable.
