Easy Diwali rangoli designs

Materials & tools
- 2–3 colours of suitable rangoli powder
- Chalk or a simple reusable stencil
- A small spoon or powder cone
- A dry protected surface or display board
- Brush and dustpan for cleanup
Step-by-step instructions
- Choose a dry side area away from steps, wet floors and main foot traffic. Check whether the chosen chalk or colours are suitable for the surface.
- Mark a three-by-three grid of small dots, spaced evenly. Connect the four outer middle dots into a diamond around the centre.
- Add a loop or petal shape on each side of the diamond. Repeat the shape rather than adding many unrelated motifs.
- Outline the design with a narrow line. Fill one section at a time using two contrasting colours, adding a third only as a small accent.
- Tidy the edges with a small brush and leave the surrounding floor clear. Do not place loose powder under candle holders, wires or moving chairs.
- Keep the design for the gathering, then sweep gently into a dustpan. Store unused colours in closed labelled containers away from children and food.

- Use paper shapes on a reusable board if a household member is sensitive to dust.
- An adult should choose suitable materials and supervise children; loose powders are not food or face paint.
