Materials & tools
- 1 clean chalni (sieve)
- Ribbon or cotton cord
- 2–3 lightweight artificial flowers
- Small fabric pouch for a wrapped gift
- Scissors
Step-by-step instructions
- Clean and dry the chalni; inspect the rim for sharp edges. Decide how you will hold it during moon viewing.
- Measure ribbon around the outer rim, leaving enough length for a bow, and cut it.
- Wrap the ribbon around the outside, keeping the handle and mesh clear. Tie rather than glue the ends.
- Tie a small flower cluster to one side, away from the grip. Check that the ties do not protrude into the mesh.
- Place a lightweight, separately wrapped gift in a fabric pouch inside the sieve for presentation.
- Remove the gift and pouch before use. Lift the chalni to eye level and check that the mesh and grip remain unobstructed.
