Small marigold puja backdrop
Hang short lightweight marigold strands on suitable fixings to make a compact Dhanteras puja backdrop.

- Use what you have
- 6 steps
Short garlands are easier to secure and keep away from lamps than a heavy flower curtain. Measure the available wall space and work with a few evenly spaced strands. Fresh flowers and reusable fabric flowers both work as decorative choices, depending on your family’s preference.
Keep ready
- Fresh or reusable marigold garlands
- Strong cotton cord
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Wall fixings rated for the surface and combined load
- Dry cloth
How to do it
- 1Measure a small backdrop area and decide where the bottom of each strand will finish, well above the lamp area.
- 2Check the weight of the garlands and choose fixings suitable for the wall and total load. Follow the fixing instructions, including any setting time.
- 3Lay the strands on a table and trim or fold them to balanced lengths. Keep knots secure and loose ends short.
- 4Attach the top cord to the fixings and test it with a gentle pull before hanging flowers.
- 5Tie on the garlands at even intervals. Keep the arrangement clear of fans, hot lamps and anything that could catch fire.
- 6Inspect the setup from the side to check that a drooping strand cannot touch a lamp. Remove wilted flowers and take down the backdrop after use.
Helpful tips 💡
- Adults should install and remove overhead decorations.
- Use fewer strands if the wall fixings cannot support the load.
- Do not tape garlands onto electrical fittings.
Plan ahead
Measure and install suitable fixings ahead of time. Add fresh flowers closer to the gathering and allow time for safe removal and cleanup afterward.
Common questions
Can I use fabric marigolds instead of fresh flowers?
Yes. Check their weight and keep them well away from heat and flames. Reusable strands can be stored dry and flat after the festival.
How should I fit this project into my Dhanteras plan?
