How to plan a Griha Pravesh and housewarming budget
Build a practical housewarming budget, compare decoration quotations and decide what to keep, simplify or reuse.

Set the whole-event limit first
Write down the maximum total you are comfortable spending before browsing designs. Then list guests, puja requirements, food, decoration and setup costs. Your decoration allowance is one part of that total, not the entire budget.
- Separate must-haves from optional photography, return gifts or extra floral areas.
- Record anything you already own, can borrow or will arrange yourself.
- Keep a reserve for changes rather than allocating every rupee immediately.
Turn a target into an allocation
For illustration, a ₹25,000 total could be divided into ₹5,000 for puja and supplies, ₹7,000 for decoration, ₹8,000 for food, ₹2,000 for other costs and ₹3,000 held back. This is a planning exercise, not a price list or a promise that services can be purchased for these amounts.
- Check the food allowance against the actual guest count and menu.
- Replace each allowance with a confirmed quote or shopping total as decisions are made.
- If the total exceeds your limit, reduce optional scope before spending the reserve.
Ask for a complete decoration quote
Two flower-decoration quotes are comparable only when they describe the same areas and inclusions. A doorway arrangement, full entrance frame and complete home setup are different scopes.
- List flower types, fresh versus artificial materials, quantities or coverage, colours and permitted substitutions.
- Ask about labour, transport, setup, removal, taxes, hired props and refundable deposits.
- Count a combined package once; do not add the included entrance and indoor components a second time.
Reduce cost without losing the focal point
Choose the one area guests will notice first and simplify the rest. Ask the partner to suggest a smaller design using the agreed palette rather than silently replacing materials.
- Reuse your own vessels or serving pieces where suitable.
- Remove duplicate photo backdrops or extra hallway installations before reducing essential access or setup work.
- Confirm cancellation, date-change and payment terms before committing; track deposits separately from the unpaid balance.
