This family activity coordinates arrival, seating, prepared offerings and non-flame roles for Lakshmi-Ganesha Puja. The separate vidhi, samagri and muhurat guides help with planning. Your trusted household practice determines the prayers and ritual sequence; participation need not turn into a performance.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Set the chowki

Clean the surface, add the cloth and check that the table is stable and away from curtains.

  2. 2

    Arrange the essentials

Place idols, kalash, diya, offerings and aarti thali within comfortable reach.

  3. 3

    Prepare the offering

Keep flowers, roli, rice, fruit or sweets in small bowls so the ritual can flow without searching.

  4. 4

    Pray together

Follow your family tradition, invite each person to offer a flower and finish with aarti and prasad.

Helpful tips 💡

  • Regional customs differ; follow your household priest or tradition.
  • Keep incense, camphor and matches with an adult.

Plan ahead

Confirm the local timing, prepare the chowki while unlit and ask who wants to read or help with bowls. Leave a quiet space for anyone who needs to sit, and keep children’s tasks away from hot prasad and flame.

Common questions

How is this activity different from the puja vidhi guide?

This activity organises family participation. The vidhi page gives a preparation outline, and the muhurat and samagri pages help with the date, time and materials.

Does everyone need to take the same role?

No. People may prefer prayer, reading, seated participation, arranging cool flowers or helping with food. Ask what is comfortable and follow your family’s practice.
