Before you begin
A decorated karwa can coordinate with your puja thali while remaining practical to handle. Keep the inside, rim and any water-contact surfaces undecorated. The 45 minutes covers hands-on work; paint and glue need their own drying time according to the label.

How to do it
1Check the pot for cracks, then clean and dry it fully. Mark an undecorated band around the rim.
2Sketch a simple border on the outside: dots around the shoulder and small petals below work well on a curved surface.
3Paint one thin base layer on the exterior and let it dry as directed before adding another colour.
4Add the border with a small brush. Support the pot on a folded cloth so it does not roll.
5Tie a removable ribbon around the neck without covering the opening or making the grip slippery.
6Let all decoration dry fully, then test the grip and place the pot on a stable thali. Use only a pot suitable for its intended water or food use.

Decorate at least the day before puja, allowing the full drying time on the paint label. Store upright, away from dust and wet surfaces.

Can I paint inside a karwa?
Leave the inside and rim unpainted if the pot will hold water. Exterior decoration does not make an unsuitable pot food-safe.
How can I decorate without paint?
Tie a removable ribbon around the neck and use a small fabric band around the body. Keep the opening and grip clear.
