7 simple steps

Measure & cut the cord
Measure between the two doorway hooks, then cut the cord 30 cm longer so there is enough length for a loop at each end.

Set bead stoppers
Mark even 8–10 cm intervals and tie firm stopper knots so the beads and hanging clusters cannot slide together.

Thread the beads
Thread red, green and gold beads in a repeating pattern between the knots, keeping the distribution balanced from the centre outward.

Attach mango leaves
Tie each clean mango leaf by its stem with short cotton thread or floral wire, pointing it downward. Use glue only for paper leaves, never fresh ones.

Add marigold accents
Tie compact marigold blossoms between the leaf clusters, alternating orange and yellow and keeping the centre visually balanced.

Create hanging loops
Fold each cord end into a loop and secure it with a tight double knot. Tug-test both loops before lifting the toran.

Hang & settle
Place both loops on secure hooks, centre the lowest point over the doorway, and adjust any twisted leaves or flower clusters.
Make a reusable paper-and-fabric version ahead and store it dry. Add fresh flowers nearer the celebration and remove wilted material rather than leaving it for all nine days.
